Optical Coherence Tomography (Oct) – An Insight Into Its Applications In Dentistry
Authors:Maniksha, Divya VC
Abstract
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an emerging assessment
tool for detecting early caries, enamel cracks, defective
restorations, oral precancers, gingival and periodontal diseases,
and various other dental diseases. OCT is very much similar to
ultrasound imaging except that it uses light instead of sound. OCT
is a non-invasive, non-contact imaging technique that uses light
waves to capture high-resolution, cross-sectional images of
biological tissues. OCT can function as a type of optical biopsy and
is a powerful imaging technology in medical and dental diagnosis.
With its wide range of applications, OCT is worth considering for
the future of dentistry. OCT is a promising technology that has the
potential to revolutionize the way dentists diagnose and treat dental
conditions. Further research can help OCT a part of the daily dental
practice.

Thermography In Dentistry
Authors: S.Ramasubramanian, C Ganesh, M Shanthi, A Backiyalakshmi, Divya VC
Abstract
Thermography is a non-invasive, radiation-free imaging technique
that can be used to assess oral health and diagnose various tooth
and jaw diseases. Method
Includes detection of infrared radiation emitted by the body that
can be used to generate a detailed image of the temperature
distribution on the skin surface.
In oral medicine and radiology, thermography is used to identify
various medical conditions such as Oro-facial pain, TMJ disorders,
oral cancer, and various other disciplines of dentistry. It has been
shown to be effective in assessing the efficacy of treatment and
monitoring and Healing progression which makes it a holistic tool
of diagnosis

Root coverage with bridge flap using subepithelial connective tissue graft in the treatment of multiple gingival recession: A case report
Authors: Sneha.G.Krishnan,Dr.S.Gopalakrishnan, Dr.Saichand
Abstract
The main goal of periodontal regenerative and reconstructive
therapy involves restoring health, function, and esthetics, often
necessitating a multidisciplinary approach tailored to the
individual's needs, which often requires correction of gingival
recession defects within the esthetic zone. The coverage of
denuded roots presents one of the challenges of periodontal
treatment. Presently there are numerous periodontal plastic
procedures available to manage such problem. Bridge flap
technique is one such surgical procedure, which provides root
coverage at one stage. The following case presents a cost-effective
simple technique to correct multiple gingival recession at the same
time with bridge flap technique using connective tissue graft.

drawn a lot of interest because of their capacity to correct Class II
malocclusions and encourage healthy mandibular growth and
development. This review article attempts to give a thorough
overview of fixed functional appliances by going through their
many categories, modes of operation, clinical applications,
benefits, drawbacks, and outcomes supported by data. The
controversy surrounding using these appliances for orthodontic
therapy is also covered in this article, along with potential future
