Osteotome Sinus Floor Elevation and Implant Placement in Grafted Sockets After Extraction
Authors:Dr. Dhathri priya.B, Balasubramanian.K, Mohamed Arshad .
AbstractThe craniofacial skeletal complex has one movable bone, the mandible. The mandibular movements are made possible by the
temporomandibular joint and the facial muscles. The mandibular movements are affected by various etiological factors which can be
congenital and acquired. During replacement of missing teeth, recording maxillomandibular relation often poses a difficulty. Restoring
exact vertical dimension and centric relation contributes to a harmonious occlusion. Various methods of recording mandibular
movements are available.

Surgical Management of Periapical Lesion in Maxillary Incisors with Combined Bone Graft and Platelet – Rich Fibrin: A Case Report
Authors:Saranya Dhanapal, Mohamed Jubair Hashir.M
Abstract
Chronic periapical lesions usually occur as an inflammatory
response due to bacterial infection within the root canals.
Periapical surgeries are considered as an important alternative
when non-surgical conservative endodontic treatment fails in
resolution of the lesion. Commercially various bone substitutes
and regenerative methods are available after degranulation of
tissue in order to attain favourable healing promoting bone
regeneration. This case report represents healing of periapical
lesion in maxillary incisors after periapical surgery, in conjugation
with bone graft and platelet-rich fibrin after 12 months follow up. Download this Article

Knowledge And Awareness Of Dental Implants Among General Public In India- A Web-Based Questionnaire Survey
Authors: Dr.V.R.Balaji MDS, Dr.Manikandan Dhanasekaran MDS, Dr.Soundariya BalaMuralei, Dr.Santhosh
Kumar S.R
Abstract
BACKGROUND: To develop an evidence based report on the
level of knowledge and awareness about dental implants among
public in South India through web–based questionnaire. So that
this can be utilized for better understanding of patients’ needs and
gain of knowledge among dental practitioners.
MATERIALS&METHODS: A structured questionnaire survey
was done to assess the level of knowledge and awareness about
dental implants among the public through Google form. Two
interviewers with dental background did the study, for a period of
4 months. All questions were close-ended multiple-choice
questions.
RESULTS: 1050 participants recorded their responses for this
survey. Among them 566 (53.9%) are males and 484 (46.1%) are
females, between age groups of 15-75 years. About 59.81%
people have heard implant as a treatment procedure and 40.19%
not aware, but on the contrary only 7.8% respondents have
undergone an implant procedure.
CONCLUSION: This survey reflects the clinical scenario of our
day-to-day practice. Even though the patient knows of this dental
treatment, many are not willing to undergo this procedure. The
reason behind may be the fear of surgery or the cost of this
treatment but it is in the clinician’s hands to improve this current
situation in South India. Based on the result of our study, it is
prudent for the clinician to put more effort in order to deliver
efficient treatment protocols and glean this evidence to improve
patient’s perception and acceptance for this treatment.

Laser Assisted Excision Of Recurrent Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma – A Case Report
Authors:Dr. P. Manasa, Dr. A. Aniz, Dr. R. Hemalatha, Dr. C.P. Dhivakar, Dr. Divyashree Pandian, Dr. T. Komallavalli
AbstractAngled Oral cavity is prone to occurrence of various non-neoplastic and
neoplastic overgrowths. Peripheral ossifying fibroma is one of the
non-neoplastic lesions that arises from the gingiva. Though the
etiology of Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma is mostly suggested to be
of reactive in nature, there are reports that claim them to be of
odontogenic in origin. Peripheral ossifying fibroma mostly occur
in the maxillary anterior teeth region from the interdental papilla.
It occurs in all age groups and has a female predilection. Peripheral
ossifying fibroma has a high rate of reoccurrence. This report
represents a case of recurrent peripheral ossifying fibroma in a 24-
year-old male, following its excision 6 months ago using scalpel
and its management with LASER assisted periodontal surgery

Minimally Invasive Technique For Anterior Maxillary Retraction & Intrusion - A Prospective Study On A Case With 1 Year Follow-Upsalivary

Abstract
The conventional treatment for vertical maxillary excess due to
Skeletal class II base, is surgical reduction and rigid fixation which
has decreased patient acceptance. However, intrusion of some
selected MVE cases can be achieved with minimal intervention
using mini plate anchorage, thus expediting and simplifying their
management. A 15 year old female patient came with a complaint
of forwardly placed teeth in the upper front tooth region of the jaw.
Intraoral examination showed class II molar occlusion on both
sides with increased overjet and overbite. The cephalometric
analysis showed class II skeletal relationship with vertical
maxillary excess. The treatment plan included Fixed appliance
with extraction of 14,24,35, then miniplates and mini-implant
assisted anterior maxillary retraction and intrusion. At the end of
the treatment anterior maxillary retraction and intrusion was
achieved. Thus the hypothesis was accepted as retraction and
intrusion using mini plates is an easy, efficient, safe and costeffective option in the management of VME. It is less invasive with
acceptable clinical and radiographic outcome, while avoiding
surgery under GA with its risk and complication. Careful case
selection is needed for achieving satisfactory result and smile.
